jkshesnojoke asked: Hey! Last year, you sent me some advice about preparing for Half Dome. Long story short about last year: we made it to the cables, but didn't go to the top because the weather was bad and there were two accidents the day before. Since I have time to prepare again, do you have any suggestions on exercises to strengthen up my legs?
Hi! How was the trek to the sub dome? If you were able to get to the cables with a fair amount of ease (some blood and sweat is okay) then do what you did. A lot of cardiovascular activity with added incline is perfect for the hike. You just need to get used to the exhaustion and elevation, but it won’t be too bad because you will give yourself breaks every 10-15 minutes or however long you need to rest on the hike. Upping your incline is key whether it is on the stair master, stationary/regular bike, or running/walking. Have fun!!! I wish I could go this year.

The diving board on half dome. One gust of wind and that asshole falls 4,000 ft.
I wouldn’t mind doing Half Dome again. You won’t die if you’re with me. :)

I need one more adventure before school starts up again. Plumas? Pt. Reyes? Anything…Anywhere! Please!
Please be careful while hiking Half Dome. It is not Great America and it’s really dangerous if you’re not prepared. Check the weather beforehand and do NOT go if it rains even a little. A little will go a long way in high elevation and it can lead to heavy rain and even hail in a really short amount of time. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!
This place is beautiful but the grueling trails get very ugly and painful…
